My Step-by-Step Winter Skincare Routine

My Winter Skincare Routine -
When it comes to my skincare regimen, nothing is as inconsistent and ever changing as how I prefer to treat my skin. Yet, I do have a simple yet effective winter skincare routine to share with you today. Lately, I try to have a more intuitive approach to life and do what feels right for me in that very moment. If you remember, I also talked about my SUNDAY HOME SPA RITUAL already a few months back. Today I thought I take you with me through a somewhat typical regimen during those pesky winter days as of late.

First, I don’t know if you’re sensitive to winter temperatures when it comes to your skin. Are you? What wrecks my skin (hair and sinuses for that matter as well) is the poor air quality from all the indoor heating. At work, my colleagues like to max out their radiators like crazy. After hours inside, my skin is quenched. It’s longing for some extra hydration (picture this scene from Rango). I try to balance it out by guzzling down water like a pro but there’s only so much one can do.

So, what works for me during winter when it comes to skincare? Here’s my step-by-step approach…

For my Face

Ever since I found out about GLOV, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one to try out myself. I got another one for lil sis of course and for a beauty obsessed friend of mine for Christmas as well. And it did not disappoint. GLOV is a makeup removing cloth that only needs lukewarm water and gets to work. It removes all your makeup – even waterproof mascara – no questions asked. It’s amazing and gentle and great for sensitive winter skin. Austrian readers can find it at Marionnaud. German readers at dm online for and US readers can get the GLOV at Ulta.

After a good clean, I like to use a serum for in-depth hydration. I received the bareminerals Skinlongevity Vital Power Infusion a while ago and ever since, my skin is drinking it up like crazy. It’s non-sticky which is important to me and my skin tone looks and feels more evened out. I appreciate the organic and natural ingredients the Skinsorials series is working with. It’s very nice!

Sometimes I like to apply an oil before the serum and usually I’ll go for Sunday Riley’s Luna Face Oil these days. I always wanted to give it a try and finally got the chance when I snagged CultBeauty’s Anna + Lily Box. So far, we’re still going strong.

For my eye area, I love Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado which I always use at night. Especially during the cold and dry winter months. The cream is super rich but needed to keep the delicate eye area moisturized and free from pesky dry spots. It’s very affordable too.

There’s only one thing I put on my lips during winter and that’s the original Bepanthen cream. I heard this tip years ago and used it ever since. No more flaky dried out lips thanks to a nice layer of Bepanthen overnight. Try it and thank me later!

For my body

Me and my dry brush we’re still going strong. I can’t tell you how much of a difference almost daily dry brushing made for my skin. It is the best. Then I hop in the shower and use any lavender-infused shower gel to relax. Which also helps to wash off the day and afterwards I slather my body in Bi-Oil. Again, there’s nothing like it. I never liked moisturizing my body at all, but this stuff sinks right in and makes me feel great and taken care of.

That’s it! Brushed, oiled and good to go ♥

    1. Ha, Sara, I wish! In comes in phases, I guess but I am on a lucky streak right now. I really do like it as it sinks right in and is non-sticky and packed with nutrients!
