With 2015 coming to an end, the December Vibes are bittersweet to me. I enjoy reading other bloggers best of the year but while everyone´s claiming that this year rocked, I feel like I didn´t get the memo. I don´t want to sound ungrateful but 2015 was definitely a year of hard work and learning the lessons, and hopefully 2016 will be the year to reap what I sowed! Scratch that! 2016 WILL be my year :)
With the New Year just a mere six hours away, I thought, I´ll check in one last time and share my faves – not only from December but in general. Ready?
Deciding on my favorite read this year would definitely be not an easy task. I feel like I really got back into reading something other than health-related books and plan to give you a full run-down asap. Browsing GoodReads as well as following a few bookish bloggers didn´t disappoint. Still, I feel like my favorite book in a very long time is Kristin Newman´s What I Was Doing While You Were Breeding. I just can´t get over the hilarious stories and the serious travel bug that bit me while reading!
December was all about a long overdue Kindle read, I finally finished Eleanor + Park by Rainbow Powell and have mixed thoughts about the plot and characters, to be honest. The whole we have to be broken to fall in love and only be able to feel complete because of someone else sentiment kind of rubbed me the wrong way… What did you think?
Look-wise I am still proud of myself for participating in the Otto Blog Award Challenge and sharing the very first look post of yours truly over here. I definitely plan on getting more comfortable in front of the camera for 2016 and meanwhile GabiFresh will inspire me with her amazing looks. She´s just always on point!
What many of you might not know about me, is that I used to be quite the music geek. For whatever reason that stopped a few years ago and besides my Sunday Mixtapes, I didn´t care so much for new artists, getting tickets for live shows in town or anxiously waiting for a new record to be released. I owe it to lil sis who invited me to see Death Cab this Fall and somehow ignited that spark again. Now, we already snagged tickets to Kodaline and Joshua Radin for January and February. I am so psyched!
I am as thrilled as everyone else, that Adele is back and I was surprised to dig the latest Justin Bieber record that much, it´s just insanely incredible. Other than that, I think The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, Tori Kelly and Florence And The Machine did amazingly well this year, and I am happy I found new tunes that I will happily share with you in an upcoming mixtape. Stay tuned, as they say.
Until now, I thought there is no quote to share with you or an overall favorite that stood out to me this year, but I just realized there´s one saved on my phone from Glamour´s Woman of the Year, that´s pure gold…
“The ability to grow is directly related to the amount of insecurity you can take in your life!”
– Caitlin Jenner
That´s it, 2015: It was nice to have you, but I am ready to let you go :)
Happy New Year, lovelies! ♥
